Halloween Pumpkins and Trick or Treating

Today we celebrated Halloween with our kids. We started the morning making a new pumpkin because we had to throw out the last one.

Halloween Pumpkin

This time we went with a simple design because of the short time frame we had. My little buddy helped me with all of the steps. First we took of the top. Then we got down and dirty taking the guts out

This pumpkin came with stickers for the eyes and mouth so carving the holes was as easy as tracing the stickers. Once we got the eyes and mouth out all we had to do is get rid of excessive ‘flesh’ so the openings would look bigger.

Halloween Market

In Voorschoten, close to where we live, they had a little market set up in the spirit of Halloween. Kids could get their face painted and there were workshops like carving a pumpkin or creating a ghost key chain. Jack decided he wanted to make a another pumpkin so that’s just what we did.

Trick or Treat

After that we went Trick or Treating and our twins joined in. They all loved knocking on the doors and getting sweets in return for a ‘Trick or Treat!’. Many thanks to our neighbours who got some sweets especially for our kids! This was the first year that we really celebrated Halloween, especially because it’s not something we used to do in the Netherlands. But for sure we will be doing this next year again.
