Taga 2.0 – What To Focus On When Assembling

It’s here!

What is? Our brand new Taga 2.0 of course. The long wait is over. We’ve backed this project on Kickstarter from the first couple of days and have waited patiently for it to arrive. It took a little longer than expected but hey… it’s here so we can start riding it.

But wait… The delivery guy drops of 2 boxes… aargghhh it needs assembly!

No need to worry

Putting the Taga 2.0 together isnn’t hard to do and the manual is easy enough to follow, but maybe I can tell you a thing or 2 to make life a little easier.
* NOTE: Make sure you read and understand the manual. The manual should be your reference putting the bike together.

Steering Rod

The first point of assembly is the steering rod. This rod connects the wheels which makes steering both wheels at the same time possible. The rod gets secured with two “Allen key” screws. You need to pay attention on two things here.

  1. Make sure the brakes on the wheel mounts are pointing in the right direction. The brakes should be on the outside.
  2. Don’t tighten the screws too much. Yes you should use a bit of your strength, but tighten it to much and steering becomes very hard to do.

Wheels

The next step is assembling the wheels. The wheels need a little bit of guidance to be installed properly. Make sure the wheels are installed correctly according to the manual or you might be dealing with wheels falling of or breaks jamming. The things that need extra attention are:

  1. Make sure you put the left wheel left and the right wheel right. On one of the brake discs an arrow tells you the driving direction. This arrow should line up with the arrow on the brake calliper. This makes sure you have the right wheel on the right spot.
  2. Make sure the brake disc is aligned cleanly in the brake calliper to make sure brake operation works as expected. Inspect the brake discs and make sure they are not bent.
  3. The quick release system needs to be put on straight to make sure the wheels are in the right angle. Don’t rush this and make sure the quick release system in aligned properly on the wheel mounting point.
  4. Tighten the quick release system good enough so that you feel force closing it, but not too tight because the wheels won’t spin good enough.

Handlebars

Next up are the handlebars. These are easy to install but you need to do 2 things:

  1. Make sure the angle of the handlebar is right.
  2.  Apply some force to make sure it fits snuggly.

Your Taga 2.0 is almost done!

The above where the “difficult” things when assembling the bike. The rest is very straight forward and is nothing more than tightening 7 screws, 3 quick releases and some velcro.

Royal Canopy

For the people who got the Royal Canopy, this one is extremely easy to install.

  1. Put the rods through the openings in the fabric.
  2. Insert rods in plastic top and rear roof pieces.
  3. Insert rods in openings on the cargo compartment.
  4. Mount hooks on the cargo compartment.
  5. Add sides and close with zipper and you’re done.
